How to Make a Shrinky Dink Easter Basket

When children wake up Easter morning, the first thing they see is their Easter baskets, filled with some desirable sweets and a few small toys. Easter baskets are a perfect craft for small children to create before they get their real basket. They can make an Easter basket out of a Shrinky Dink sheet and put as much candy and presents in it as they want. They can then watch in amazement as the basket shrinks down to half its size.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Shrinky Dink sheets
• Pencil crayons
• Baking sheet
• Scissors
• Oven

1. Shop for some Shrinky Dink sheets. You can find some at your local craft store or purchase them online at the Shrinky Dink store. The website link is provided for you below.

2. Place one of the Shrinky Dink sheets in front of you with the rough side of it facing up. This is the only side you can color on.

3. Draw the outline of an Easter basket with a brown pencil crayon. Make the outline larger than you really want the basket. Remember that it is going to shrink.

4. Color the rest of the basket it with your pencil crayons. Now is the time to add any candy or toys you want to see in your basket. Pretend that it is Easter morning and draw what you think you will find in your basket.

5. Cut the basket out, being careful to leave a clear space around all of the edges to make up for some of the shrinking.

6. Turn the oven on and wait for the temperature to reach 325 degrees.

7. Set your Easter basket Shrinky Dink on a baking sheet.

8. Slide the baking sheet in the oven and time the Shrinky Dink for 60 seconds.

9. Remove the Shrinky Dink with pot holders and set it out to cool for 15 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

• Cut a small piece of magnet and remove the backing. Stick the magnet on the back of the Shrinky Dink Easter basket so you can display it on your refrigerator.
• Use a hole puncher and punch a hole in the top of the Shrinky Dink Easter basket. Thread a piece of string through the hole to make the basket a necklace.
• Keep an eye on your Shrinky Dink at all times. They burn in a matter of two seconds.
