Edit Text Wrap Points on Objects and Pictures in Microsoft Word 2003

There are many times when users who are working within a word processor need to add an image or an object to complement the text. Documents like newsletters and email blasters frequently call for images and objects--which means that you have to determine the text-wrapping points around those objects. Thankfully, modern-day word processors have ample editing features found in that allow users to easily modify the way the text shapes and wraps around objects inserted into work documents.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the object or the picture to select it for editing.

  2. Step 2

Access the Object Properties menu. Right-click on the object or picture and select “Formatting” from the submenu that opens.

  3. Step 3

Click on the “Layouts” tab to access the text-wrapping points menu.

  4. Step 4

Choose the desired text-wrapping points. There are five offered: in-line with text (which places the picture in the same lines as the text and moves the text around it, under and above it); square (which places the text squarely around the picture, above and to the sides of it); tight (which crunches the text tightly to the picture's borders); behind text (which places the picture behind the text); and in front of text (which places the picture on top of the text.)

  5. Step 5

Choose your text-wrapping point. Click on the relevant radial button and click “OK” to implement the change.

Tips & Warnings
