These sock candle holders are a cinch to make and are ghoulishly cute. Make several of different sizes and shapes and arrange on your Halloween party table for a sensational centerpiece. This can be a relatively inexpensive craft if you shop for your items at the dollar store or thrift store, and is a great way to use up those old socks around the house.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Round glass candle holder
  • Plain white tube sock
  • Black buttons
  • Red buttons slightly smaller than the black buttons
  • Black rickrack
  • Hot glue gun or craft glue
  • Candle
  1. Step 1

Cut the middle out of the tube sock. Fit the cut piece over the candle holder and cut some more if needed to fit. It should cover most of the holder.

  2. Step 2

Mark the spots for the eyes and mouth with a pencil or marker. Remove the sock from the holder.

  3. Step 3

Lay the sock flat on your work surface and glue on the black buttons over the marks made for the eyes. Glue the red buttons on top of the black buttons to complete the eyes. Let the buttons dry.

  4. Step 4

Replace the sock over the candle holder. Cut the rickrack approximately 3 inches in length for the mouth and glue it to the sock under the eyes. Let the rickrack dry.

  5. Step 5

Place a candle inside the holder and light.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can sew the buttons on instead of gluing.
  • For a real Halloween theme, make pumpkin holders by dying white socks orange.
