1
Pack plastic cutlery and a place setting for each picnic guest, along with paper plates, napkins and moist wipes for easy cleanup without water.
-
2
Cook or buy prepared Southern fried chicken, enough food for everyone--don't forget that fresh air makes a person hungry; pack plenty. Put mashed potatoes and gravy in separate storage bowls and keep hot in the thermal bag, which you can keep in the main picnic hamper.

-
3
Store coleslaw and potato salad in plastic containers and keep them cold on top of the soda pop, which needs to be packed at the bottom of the hamper.
-
4
Tuck the drinking straws and Danish pastries somewhere where they won't be squashed by heavier items, or place in a large plastic storage container.
-
5
Fold and pack the picnic blanket and place on top of all the food and soda pop. Make sure the blanket is big enough for you all to sit on comfortably.
-
6
Pack a Frisbee and a ball to work off all those extra calories after the picnic. Take the dog with you and play Frisbee with him and kick the ball around with the children.
