How to Have a Julia Roberts Movie Marathon

Born in October 1967, Julia Roberts has been lighting up the screen with her mega-watt smile since the late 1980s. Her breakout starring role was in the 1900 romantic comedy "Pretty Woman," and she won the Oscar for best actress in a leading role in 2000 with her portrayal of lawyer Erin Brockovich. The best way to appreciate Roberts' acting talent is to have a marathon of her movies.

1. Watch the 1988 comedy-drama "Mystic Pizza." Watch this coming-of-age story that tells of three teenage girls working at a pizza parlor in Mystic, Connecticut.

2. Watch the 1989 romantic drama "Steel Magnolias." Roberts was nominated for an Oscar for best actress in a supporting role for her portrayal of Shelby Eatenton Latcherie. Known as one of the funniest movies to make you cry, this film follows the lives of various individuals in the tiny Chinquapin Parish. Co-stars include Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine and Daryl Hannah.

3. Watch the 1990 romantic comedy "Pretty Woman." Roberts stars opposite Richard Gere as Vivian Ward, a prostitute hired as an escort by a wealthy businessman--and they wind up falling in love.

4. Watch the 1991 thriller-drama "Sleeping with the Enemy." Roberts stars as Laura Burney, a woman married to an abusive husband. She decides to take matters into her own hands and fake her own death in order to flee to a new city and live under a new identity. Her husband soon finds out that she's not really dead--and goes to great lengths to track her down and kill her.

5. Watch the 1991 family adventure "Hook." Robin Williams plays an adult Peter Pan who is sent back to Neverland to rescue his children from the clutches of the evil Captain Hook. Roberts co-stars as Tinkerbell, the fairy with the pixie dust who helps Peter rediscover his identity as the boy who never wanted to grow up. 6. Watch the 1997 romantic comedy "My Best Friend's Wedding." Roberts stars as Julianne Potter, a woman who has been best friends with Michael for years--but when Michael becomes engaged to Kimberly, Julianne realizes she is in love with him. 7. Watch the 1998 drama "Stepmom." Roberts portrays Isabel Kelly, the new woman in Luke Harrison's life. When Luke's ex-wife Jackie becomes terminally ill, she must learn to accept that Isabel will become the new stepmother to her two children. Susan Sarandon stars as Jackie, with Ed Harris portraying Luke.

8. Watch the 1999 romantic comedy "Notting Hill." Roberts stars as Anna Scott, a famous actress who meets small-town British book seller William Thacker, played by Hugh Grant, and falls in love. However, fame and her American actor boyfriend threaten Anna and William's relationship.

9. Watch the 1999 romantic comedy "Runaway Bride." Roberts and Gere are re-united as Roberts portrays Maggie Carpenter, a woman known for leaving men at the altar. Gere plays Ike Graham, the news reporter sent to get the story on Maggie--and inevitably, the two fall in love.

10. Watch the 2000 drama "Erin Brockovich." Based on a true story, Julia portrays unemployed single mother Erin Brockovich, who becomes a legal assistant and finds herself involved in bringing down a California power company accused of polluting the water supply in a nearby city. Roberts won the Oscar for best actress in a leading role for her performance.

11. Watch the 2001 romantic comedy "America's Sweethearts." Roberts co-stars as Kiki Harrison, sister and personal assistant to famous actress Gwen Harrison, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. Gwen is in the middle of a divorce from fellow film star Eddie Thomas, played by John Cusack--but Hollywood wants Gwen and Eddie back together making their well-loved movies together. Things get sticky when Kiki and Eddie develop romantic feelings for each other. Billy Crystal, Hank Azaria, Stanley Tucci and Seth Green also co-star.

12. Watch the 2003 drama "Mona Lisa Smile." Roberts portrays Katherine Ann Watson, an art professor at the Wellesley College in the 1950s. Katherine forces the girls in her class to question the roles society forces on them. Co-stars include Julia Stiles, Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Marcia Gay Harden.

13. Watch the 1996 family comedy-drama "Charlotte's Web." Based on the book, this largely animated film tells the tale of Wilbur the pig, the runt of the litter who is saved by the farmer's daughter Fern from termination. Once he is strong enough to be put in the barn across the road, Wilbur meets many farm animals--including a spider named Charlotte who promises Wilbur that she will do something to save him from being a "spring pig." Roberts provides the voice of Charlotte, alongside Dominic Scott Kay, John Cleese, Steve Buscemi, Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer. Dakota Fanning stars in human form as Fern.
