2. Place your tree in a tree stand and fill the stand with fresh water. You will need to check the reservoir in your tree stand every day to make sure it is getting enough water.

3. Choose a variety of natural items for your decorations. Pinecones, small nests, leafy twigs and berries gathered during nature walks or from outside your home make the best decorations.

4. Make a popcorn garland for your tree. Thread pieces of corn on heavy-duty thread to make a long string of corn. Day old popcorn holds together better than fresh, so pop it at least a day ahead of time.
