Your skin often determines your overall appearance for the day. If you’re breaking out, have dry patches or your skin just looks dull, it’s hard to feel good about how you look. Skin health is easily affected by a variety of factors, ranging from diet to hormonal changes. You can, however, improve the appearance of your skin and help to keep it looking great by following a regular skincare regime.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cleanser
  • Facial scrub
  • Mask
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen
  1. Step 1

Cleanse your face every night. This is essential to remove makeup, debris and sweat from your face before going to bed. In the morning, you can simply rinse your face with water as it's not necessary to re-cleanse.

  2. Step 2

Apply toner or astringent to your skin after cleansing. Toners help to maintain your skin's pH balance, resulting in healthier skin.

  3. Step 3

Use a facial scrub once or twice a week. Exfoliation is key to keeping skin looking young and fresh. The scrub will remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

  4. Step 4

Treat your skin to a mask once a week. If you have dry skin, opt for a hydrating mask. For oily skin, try an acne-treatment mask. Masks are available to suit any skin type.

  5. Step 5

Moisturize. Even if you have oily skin, you must moisturize daily. Simply choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type--rich for dry skin, oil-free for oily skin and normal for standard skin types. Your skin will look better and you'll experience fewer breakouts if you maintain its moisture balance.

  6. Step 6

Wear sunscreen daily. The sun seriously damages skin, causing wrinkles, fine lines and sun spots. Sun protection is essential to young-looking, vibrant skin.

  7. Step 7

Drink plenty of water. No matter how much moisturizer you apply, your skin will never be truly hydrated unless you drink sufficient water. Aim to consume at least 64 oz. daily.

  8. Step 8

Eat a well-balanced diet. Poor nutrition is a leading cause of sallow, lifeless skin. Treat your body right by eating fresh, natural foods that are rich in nutrients, and you'll see the results in your healthy skin tone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take a multi-vitamin to ensure you are getting complete nutrition daily.
  • Never pick at your skin. It can seriously damage your skin and lead to scarring.
