How to Play the Game Gaple for Dominoes
The game of Gaple is an easy game that can act as a great introduction for players unfamiliar with dominoes. Each player pulls a certain number of tiles, one “train” is created and everyone plays on either end of it. When you find yourself with no moves, you select a tile from your hand and place it face down next to you—this tile is now out of play and counts against you at the end of the round. Pick a tile with the lowest number of pips on it to avoid racking up unwanted points. After seven rounds of play, the game is finished, and the player with the lowest number of points is the winner of Gaple.
Instructions

1
Mix the dominoes face down toward the center of the table. For the game of Gaple, you’ll only be using 28 tiles (the standard domino set). If you have a larger collection, pull all tiles up to the double six.
-
2
Draw tiles until each player has seven in front of him, positioning your hands so no other player may see your tiles. You may draw them in order or at random; it’s entirely up to you.
-
-
3
Lay the double-blank tile toward the center of the table. This is the first tile to be played for the first round so whoever has it will act as the first player. Play will now move to the left and continue around the table in a clockwise direction.
-
4
Select a tile to play on either end of the “train.” If you’re the next player after the first, you’ll truly have only one option. In this case, any tile with a blank at one end is a valid move. When you do not have a valid move, you must choose a tile from your hand and place it face down next to you. This tile will be out of play for the rest of the round.
-
5
Continue to play around the table with each player taking a turn to place a tile on either end of the train (one end of the “play” tile must match one end of the train) until all hands are exhausted or no moves are valid.
-
6
Count the pips on the tiles you were unable to play. They are then noted on a sheet of paper.
-
7
Win the game of Gaple by being the player with the lowest score after seven rounds.

Tips & Warnings
If you’re unfamiliar with dominoes, you should play the tiles end to end (matching pip to pip), unless you’re playing a double along the “train.” This tile is placed perpendicular to the line. In most games, this is an indication that the player who played it will get another turn. In the game of Gaple, this isn’t true. Play will move to the next player.
For the game of Gaple, the first play for the first round is the double-blank tile, as already stated. For each consecutive round, the first tile played will change, moving to the double-one, the double-two and so on up to the double-six.
