Look through the local classified ads. As the largest newspaper in the county, the "St. Petersburg Times" is a great place to begin any job search. The employment classified ads are included in the daily paper, with a larger section included in the Sunday edition. The ads are grouped by industry, such as accounting, health care, professional and trades. The "Tampa Tribune" also includes the same type of information, but focuses more on Tampa and Hillsborough County.

Utilize WorkNet Pinellas, which is a job search and assistance program operated by the county unemployment office, although you don’t have to be on unemployment to ask for help. The program offers help with resumes, access to office equipment such as copiers and fax machines, and assistance contacting potential employers. It also maintains a database of current job openings throughout the county. These openings are gathered from local publications as well as directly from the employers. Many companies post jobs with WorkNet Pinellas as opposed to local papers because it’s free. Access to the database is available through computers in the WorkNet Pinellas office or online.

Apply for a job with the county. The Pinellas County government has an online database of jobs with various county agencies. These include the Sheriff’s Office, Property Appraiser’s Office, Elections Board and County Courts, to name a few. Interested parties can go to the website and post an online resume for future use. Once this is completed, applicants can search through current job openings as well as descriptions of most county jobs. If a particular position is not currently open for applications, applicants can post a “Job Interest Card,” which will generate an email when this position opens for applications.

Search the numerous employment databases online, although they don’t all focus just on Pinellas County. Sites such as Monster and Careerbuilder allow job seekers to filter results for a single county or region.
