It is wonderful how you can change from being a fiery redhead one day to a sultry blonde the next with hair dye. The one thing that will really give away your secret is whether or not your eyebrows match your hair or not. Dying your eyebrows is a fairly easy process as long as you are careful and take your time. A few advanced preparations will save you a lot of heartache and humiliation in the long run. Be sure to start with a fresh, clean face.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Box of hair color
  • Plastic gloves (if not included in the box)
  • Old toothbrush
  • Old towel
  • Vaseline
  • Cotton swabs
  1. Step 1

Thoroughly read the directions on your hair color package. Take note of the mixing directions and length of time to process. Different products require different processing times. so be sure to check the package first.

  2. Step 2

Drape your old towel around your shoulders to catch any color that may drop and put on your plastic gloves and mix hair color as package directs.

  3. Step 3

Apply hair color throughout your hair as directed, leaving a small amount for use on your eyebrows. Note the time when you finished and try to set a timer for the applicable 30 or 40 minutes that the product requires to set.

  4. Step 4

Dip the cotton swabs in the petroleum jelly and carefully line the area outside of your eyebrows top and bottom with the jelly. This technique will keep any stray color from staining your skin. Do not put the jelly on your eyebrows themselves as this will prevent the color from saturating the eyebrow hairs.

  5. Step 5

Now dip the old toothbrush into the hair color and gently brush it into your eyebrows in the direction they grow. Be certain not to miss any spots. Do not let the color drip by overloading the brush; you do not want to get any color into your eyes. Be very careful.

  6. Step 6

When the allotted processing time is reached, first remove the hair color from your eyebrows with a clean wet cloth, make sure to remove any excess on your skin. Now wash the color from your hair and condition as instructed on the package. You’re all set with a fresh new hair color with matching eyebrows. If you decide to go to a hair salon for color, just ask the colorist to do your eyebrows at the same time they are applying the hair color.

Tips & Warnings
  • As you get older, your eyebrows will begin to grey so adding a little color will highlight your facial features and lessen the signs of aging. Just be careful to not make them too dark.
  • Blondes can go a shade or two darker on their eyebrows.
  • Be extremely cautious not to get any hair color in your eyes during this process.
