How to Store Fresh Carrots
The first key to keeping fresh carrots fresh is choosing appropriately when shopping. You want to select carrots with a smooth, firm surface. Avoid carrots that are not dry, cracked or rubbery. Try to select young, slender ones that do not easily bend. When in doubt, check the stem end for darkening That's a sign that a carrot is beginning to age. Wash carrots to remove any bits of dirt and remove any tops or roots by cutting them off with a knife.

Place carrots in a plastic container.

Pour fresh water over the carrots to cover. Place an airtight lid over the container.

Place the container in your vegetable bin of your refrigerator.

Change the water every 4 to 5 days. Your carrots should last up to 10 days with this method.
