Things You'll Need:
- Straight-edge razor
- Shaving razor
- Shaving cream
-
Step 1
Shave your face as you normally would and be sure to leave an inch or so below the bottom of each sideburn. You want to leave yourself enough room to work on shaping them and evening them out enough. The more room you can leave, the better as it will allow you some leeway should you make any mistakes and accidentally shave one too high.
-
Step 2
Take the straight-edge razor or a shaver with a straight edge and shave a straight line across one sideburn. The reason that you want to use a straight-edge razor as opposed to a shaving razor is because you want it to be as clean as possible. A straight razor will allow you to cut and shave it straight and even, where as your shaving razor may be a bit dull and will not cut it as cleanly as possible.
-
Step 3
Look in the mirror and keep your head as straight as possible. With the hand on the same side that you have just shaved straight, take your index finger and place it right at the bottom of the sideburn. This will help you to mark the area on your face that you must match up to. Now take the index finger on your opposite hand and place it on the sideburn on the same side as that hand. With your head as straight as possible, line up that finger with the finger on the already shaved side. This will help you to mark the unshaved side and line it up as evenly as possible.
-
Step 4
Mentally note the point on the unshaved side so as to mark where you need to shave to make it even with the other side. Take the straight-edge razor and cut and shave it straight and evenly, doing your best to try and match it up so that it is even with the other side. If you see that it is noticeably uneven, then redo the process again to try and even them out.
-
Step 5
Clean up the rest of the area with your razor, focusing on the excess hair that is around the bottom of each sideburn. Doing this process a few times a week or daily if possible will help to keep your sideburns clean and even. Shave slowly and carefully to avoid cutting yourself.
