A Christmas party is a great opportunity to spend an evening with friends, exchanging gifts and have a nice time visiting over food and drinks. There are many different things that you can do to have an elegant party without spending a lot of money or time.

From Quick Guide: Christmas Party
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Christmas decort
  • Finger foods or hor d'oeuvres
  • Christmas music
  1. Step 1

Decorate the party area. Some elegant ideas include hanging frosted snowflakes from the ceiling and adding tea lights or clear string lights around the room. Flower arrangements can be assembled using white flowers interspersed with holly berries for a festive look (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Provide music for the guests. The most elegant types of music for a Christmas party are the old songs from the 1940s with the famous Bing Crosby or Nat King Cole. There are also instrumental Christmas CDs available, which can work perfectly as a background to a festive party. These CDs are usually found at many retailers, especially during the holidays (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Serve hor d'oeuvres or finger foods that can be passed around on an elegant platter. There are many ideas for food on sites such as Food Network (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Have a gift exchange. A great way to save money during the holidays is to have a gift exchange among friends. Before the party, have each person write their name on a piece of paper, and add it to a bowl. Pass the bowl around the room so that each person draws out a name.
