How to Make Money Cleaning out a Garage

The garage, like the basement, has become the modern-day refuge for all of our junk; we don't know where to put it, we don't really want it, but we can't throw it away, so we stash it in a big pile next to the car. Eventually you can't even park your car in the garage, and you'll have to clean it out. However, next to all the junk and the old boxes, there might be a few hidden treasures that can net you a few bucks.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull everything out of your garage and lay it out on the driveway.

    • 2

Pull out all the stuff you actually want. Think long and hard; what do you actually use? If there's something you don't need, move it on.

    • 3

Pull out everything that's actually trash out of what's remaining--old boxes, bags, items that are cracked or completely broken. Throw these things away.

    • 4

Catalog everything that's left. Old lamps without lampshades, old bikes, golf clubs, an old lawn mower that would work if it just had the one missing part--these are all things that could be worth something to you.

    • 5

Take pictures of all of these items, and load the pictures onto your computer.

    • 6

Go to Craigslist and list all the items for sale. You can do this for free by signing up for a Craigslist account. If you have any question about pricing, take a look at some similar listings on the site.
