Get some rests initially. Wait until the pain subsides before resuming light activity. Prolonged bed rest, however, has been shown to slow down recovery. So get out of bed and do some simple exercises as soon as you can. Alternate between standing and sitting. Sleep on your side. Bend your knees or put a pillow between your knees. This will help to relieve pressure on your back while sleeping.
