1
Check if your baby's abdomen is swollen and hard, which may indicate she has abdominal distention. Under normal conditions, your baby's abdomen should be soft. If your baby has no bowel movements for a day or two, it is a sign that she has constipation. Bring your baby to her doctor as soon as possible.

2
Check the color of your baby's hands and feet. If your baby's hands and feet are blue, it might be due to cold weather. Dress your baby warmly. When babies cry, their face, tongue and lips can also turn a little blue. However, when babies stop crying, the color in these areas should return to normal. Call your doctor If your baby's skin is always blue. It is a sign that the heart or lungs are not working properly and the baby is not getting enough oxygen.

Check for the sign of jaundice. It is normal that your baby has yellowish skin for the first few days. However, if the yellow color persists after the first week, your baby may have jaundice due to a high level of bilirubin. Contact your doctor for treatment of jaundice, often with phototherapy. If left untreated, your child may experience hearing loss or brain damage.

Watch out if your baby cries excessively. Newborns often cry due to one of the following reasons: hungry, wet, cold or hot. If you feed your baby, change diapers and dress your baby properly and she still cries, it may indicate that something is wrong. Call your pediatrician.

5
Consult your doctor if your baby coughs persistently during feeding sections. This may indicate she has a problem in the lungs or digestive tract.
-
6
Consult your doctor if your baby is rarely alert, even during feeding, or seems to be too tired and uninterested in eating. This lethargy may be an indication of a serious problem.
