  • Olive oil
  • 1/2 cup dried rosemary leaves
  • Avocado
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2/3 cup liquid castile soap
  • 1/3 cup water
  • ½ tsp. sea salt
  • 15 to 20 drops of essential oil

      Create your own hot oil treatment for dry hair by mixing 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup dried rosemary and heating until warm. Remove the hot oil treatment from the stove and strain through a fine sieve to remove the leaves. Apply to your hair and work it in well. Wrap your hair with saran wrap and cover with a towel. Let the hot oil steep for 15 minutes. Shampoo as usual to remove the oil.

      Create a conditioner from an avocado and 1 cup of mayonnaise. Mash the avocado until smooth with no lumps. Add the mayonnaise and mix until completely blended. Apply to your hair being sure to cover all areas. Cover with saran wrap or a shower cap to hold in the heat. Leave on for up to 1/2 hour and rinse with warm water.

      Make an everyday conditioner from egg yolk and olive oil. Combine 1 beaten egg yolk with 1½ tsp. of olive oil until well blended. Stir in 3/4 cup of warm water, mixing well. Apply to hair after shampooing and rinse with warm water.

      Mix 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baking soda with enough water to make a paste. Apply to wet hair after shampooing, concentrating on the oiliest areas. Allow to set for 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water. This will remove oil and leave your hair clean and shiny.

      Make natural shampoo by combining 2/3 cup liquid castile soap and 1/3 cup of warm water and mix well. Add 1/2 tsp. sea salt and mix to dissolve completely. Add 15 to 20 drops of essential oil to create the fragrance you prefer. Store in a sealed container and use within 6 months.
