Non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaners are available in almost any store. Making your own ensures their safety though and when they're not made in a factory, there is even less of an environmental impact. Homemade cleaning products can be much less expensive than buying them off the shelf.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/8 cup liquid detergent
  • 1 tsp. vegetable glycerine
  • Washcloth
  • Clean, empty jar or tub
  • Wooden spoon
  1. Step 1

Put 1/2 cup of baking soda into the jar.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1/8 cup liquid detergent into the jar a bit at a time, stirring constantly. Add more or less detergent as needed to make the mixture a thick lotion consistency.

  3. Step 3

Add 1 tsp. vegetable glycerine to the mixture so it will keep in the jar.

  4. Step 4

Dip a clean washcloth into the mixture, then apply it to your sink, counter top, bathtub or shower.

  5. Step 5

Let it set for a bit if you have stubborn grime to remove.

  6. Step 6

Scrub the mixture with the washcloth, then rinse. To rinse from counter top, rinse then wring out the washcloth. Wet the washcloth and wipe off the cleaning mixture.

Tips & Warnings
  • This mixture isn't very gritty, but test it on any surface in a small area before using. If you have certain types of soft counters, it might be too abrasive.
