Step 1
If you are going to ride a half pipe ramp (or half tube) you will want to stand at the top of one end of the ramp and hold your skateboard in one hand upright with only one set of wheels touching the ground. Bring one foot up and rest it near the top of your board, and as you begin to let the board go, place your other foot on the board (jump on quickly) and ride down one side of tube.
-
Step 2
When you reach the other side of the tube, gravity will slow you down near the top. You can kick down the back of the board and use the other foot to pivot the board 180 degrees. Then ride down and up the other side of the ramp and repeat.
-
Step 3
For quarter pipe ramps, you adjust this technique to the ramp shape. You start from the ground and ride up the ramp fast, catch air while holding on to the tip of your board, turn your self around in the air 180 degrees and land back on the ramp and ride down. This is an aerial trick and is slightly difficult, but can be achieved through practice.
-
Step 4
There are also small jump ramp tricks, which is the easiest trick. A jump can be one sided (like a ski ramp) and the you just ride and try to achieve distance and air before landing. On a two-sided ramp, you would have distance between them and attempt to ride up one ramp, squat down and hold your board in mid-air, and then land on the other ramp and ride it down.

Step 5
If you are in a skateboard park, you may find a variety of ramp styles. Ramp tricks can all be varied to suit the ramp you may find in one of these parks. The skateboard parks are also good place to practice.
