1
Get all of the information that you can about the audition. Make sure that you find out if they'll be teaching you moves at the audition or if you will need to come with your own routine. Find out how long the audition will take, whether there will be callbacks and how the auditions generally work.
-
2
Find out as much as you can about the dance team. Find out what style they dance in, what types of moves they do and where they perform. Also, find out about the history of the dance team so that you will know as much as you can when you begin the audition.

3
Learn more about the style that the dance team performs in. Look online or at dance classes locally for some dance steps that are well known in that style. Your audition will probably consist of learning a group of steps in that style, so if you already know how to do the steps, you will be better prepared.
-
4
If you need to prepare a piece, begin to do so immediately. Make sure that you know it very well and can perform it on command. Even if you will be taught a piece, it might be a good idea to prepare something just in case. Make sure the piece that you come up with is in the right style and that it showcases your talent.
-
5
Find out what the dance team usually wears in rehearsal and then figure out what you are wearing. If you dress in something that looks similar to what the dance team rehearses in, those that are judging the audition might see you as already a part of the team--which will give you a better shot at getting onto the team!
-
6
Find out who is on the dance team and memorize their names. That way, when you are in the audition, you will know who you are talking to and can introduce yourself with confidence.
-
7
Before the audition, eat a light meal and be sure that you have stretched properly.
