How to Make a Silver Bells Door Swag

Dress up nature and your front door with this innovative door swag. You can evoke fond memories of Christmas classics like "Silver Bells" while enjoying the beauty of nature in one of its most plentiful forms: pinecones! This door swag is guaranteed to be the only one of its kind in your neighborhood.

Things You'll Need

• Cardboard
• Scissors
• Tiny pinecones or gum balls
• Hot glue gun
• 3 artificial evergreen boughs
• Thick red ribbon
• Silver glitter glue

Instructions

1. Cut out 3 cardboard circles. They should be as large as you want the bottom of your bells to be. Generally, to make the swag appropriate for your door, this should be a maximum of 5 inches in diameter.

2. Glue the pinecones to the circular bases to form bell shapes. You will create increasingly smaller circles as you build your bell.

3. Decorate the pinecones with the glitter glue. The more glitter glue you use, the more silvery your pinecone bells will be. You can use a little bit for a subtle shimmer or a lot for really sparkly, festive bells. While the bells dry, you can continue to work on the rest of the project.

4. Tie 3 evergreen boughs together with the red ribbon. Arrange them in a fan shape. If they are different lengths, place the longest one in the middle. For extra security, you can glue the bows together, then cover the glue with the ribbon.

5. Glue the pinecone silver bells to the boughs once they are dry. You will need to use a fair amount of glue, and hold them in place until the glue begins to set up. They should be arranged so that they appear to be ringing--slanted to alternating sides.

6. Glue a single pinecone or gum ball to the center of the cardboard circle underneath the bells. These will be the clappers for the bells. Once everything has dried completely, you can hang the arrangement on your door.
