Where to Buy Wholesale Padded Envelopes

Padded envelopes are extremely useful to have around. Whether you use padded envelope mailers at home, at school or for your small business, you don't have to pay the standard $3 for each envelope at your local retail store. Padded envelopes are available for wholesale purchase from more places than you may have thought, from your local office supply store to online retailers.

Instructions

    • 1

Shop at your local Sam's or Costco clubs. While clubs like these require a paid membership, they usually sell office supplies such as padded envelopes in bulk for a good deal.

    • 2

Visit your local office supply stores. Staples, Office Max and Office Depot usually sell office supplies wholesale to businesses.

    • 3

Search online for wholesale padded envelopes. Websites such as GT Zip, Packaging Price and Packaging Supplies offer padded mailers at great bulk prices (see Resources below).

    • 4

Make sure you order the correct size of padded mailers. Online padded envelope wholesalers offer many different sizes of padded envelopes, and since you won't have the luxury of examining them up-close before ordering it's very easy to order the wrong size. "Measure twice, order once" is a great strategy for ensuring that the envelopes that arrive are exactly what you had in mind.

    • 5

Examine the shipping fees. A possible downside to ordering wholesale padded envelopes online is that inflated shipping costs can turn your super deal into a less super deal pretty quickly. Before ordering, take a look at the shipping and handling fees to make sure that they're reasonable and fit your budget.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are many different types of seals for padded envelopes, from self-adhesive to heat-sealed and even the old-fashioned kind that you lick to close. Know which type of seal your prefer and be sure to ask your padded envelope wholesaler if it is available.

  • Not all padded envelopes are made equally; some have more flexibility and "give" more than others. When in doubt, order your padded envelopes a size larger to be sure.
