How to Make a New Screensaver

A screensaver does not only function as a protection for the screen, it also helps save energy and protects the computer. By locking the computer, the screensaver prevents unauthorized people from viewing the computer owner's work and data. There are creative ways to add a screensaver to your computer that can give it a fun and animated look. You can create one from scratch or from images you already have.

Instructions

Changing Screensaver Using Default Samples on PC

1. 

   Right click on your computer screen (desktop) and then left click on "Properties." Make sure you are on a blank space on your screen and avoid clicking on the icons, for you may right click on it in error.

2. 

   Click on the "Screensaver" tab. This is where you will find the options to adjust settings and choose the file path.

3. 

   Choose any of the screensavers available on the drop down menu by clicking on the drop down box arrow.

4. 

   Click on the "Settings" button. This will take you to another window, which will give you options to adjust. Click on "OK" after completing the settings.

5. 

   Adjust the wait time on the screensaver tab by clicking on the up or down arrow.

6. 

   Click on "Apply" then "OK" to complete and save the process. If you prefer, you can click on "Preview" button to see how your screensaver will look like before you save.

Creating Screensaver from Photo Slideshows

1. 

   Download photos and images from your computer. You can use family photos saved digitally or use images from the Internet that are not copyrighted. You can also upload photos you have saved on a CD.

2. 

   Create a new folder in your local drive. Name the folder any name that is easy to find, for example: "Screensaver Photo Slides."

3. 

   Save the images in the newly created folder.

4. 

   Repeat steps 1 to 2 on Section 1.

5. 

   Follow step 3 on Section 1. You should be able to choose your folder's name from the drop-down menu.

6. 

   Follow remaining steps (4 to 6) on Section One.

Tips & Warnings

• You can download free screensavers from the Internet.

• Screensaver-maker software creates screensavers from scratch.

• Be careful not to download screensavers from pop-ups. They may contain computer viruses.

• Do not download copyrighted images.
