In the old days a sunroof was a cool, optional feature on luxury cars that allowed a panel to be removed to allow air and light in. It was kind of like having a convertible that really wasn’t a convertible. In the 1970s, the Ford Motor Company introduced the moon roof, a glass panel that can be opened to allow air to circulate, or closed to allow light in, or a view of the night sky, without mussing your hair. The Toyota Previa comes with optional front and rear moon roofs.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your fingers in the hand grip located in the forward center of the front moon roof sunshade. Push the sunshade backward and into the sunshade receptacle.

    • 2

Grasp the lever located at the center rear of the front moon roof frame. Pull the lever forward to its fully opened position and push it up to tilt the front moon roof up. Pull the lever down and push it back into its fully closed position to tilt the front moon roof back down into its closed position.

    • 3

Place your fingers in the hand grip located in the forward center of the front moon roof sunshade. Pull the sunshade forward until it completely covers the moon roof.

    • 4

Insure the key is in the ignition switch and that the switch is turned to the "On" position. Press the electric moon roof switch, located forward of the rear moon roof, to its "Open" position to open the rear moon roof. Press the switch to its "Closed" position to close the rear moon roof. The moon roof will stop at the three-quarters position. Release the switch. Press the switch to its "Closed" position again to completely close the rear moon roof.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always remember to close and lock both front and rear moon roofs before leaving your vehicle.

  • The direction of the electric moon roof switch indicates the direction of movement of the moon roof.

  • The rear moon roof will move as long as the switch is engaged. The rear moon roof can stop in any desired position by releasing the switch.

  • The sunshade on the rear moon roof may be opened manually by sliding it back into its housing. The sunshade will automatically open when the rear moon roof is opened.

  • Never stick arms, hands or head outside the vehicle while it is moving.

  • Never sit on top of the vehicle, close to the moon roof opening.
