Rubber bands have been around for more than 150 years, but the usefulness of the office product has kept it around. Rubberbands can also become "weapons," or projectiles used to win a war--a rubberband war. Rubberband wars--much like paintball and laser tag wars--are great ways to improve your stealth, strategy, tactics and rubber band shooting skills, all while having a blast.

Things You'll Need:

  • Rubber bands (7 for each player)
  • Players
  • Playing field

    Organizing a Rubberband War

  1. Step 1

Give each player seven rubber bands of the same size, or close to it.

  2. Step 2

Set up perimeters for the game. Make sure each player knows what these boundaries are. Also have each player declare where their "fort" will be. This will be where they will begin the war and run to when they are out of ammunition or need to rest.

  3. Step 3

Make sure every player is wearing some sort of eye protection, such as glasses or goggles.

  4. Step 4

Explain the rules of the war. They are as follows:Each player is to begin in his or her fort. Each player can explore the playing area, but may not go beyond the boundaries at any time. When a player is hit with a rubber band, he must declare aloud that he or she has been hit, and also declare the number of times he or she has been hit so far. Once a rubber band is shot, it is anyone's rubber band.Players may sneak into other players' forts when no one is there and even steal their stash of rubber bands. When a player is out of rubber bands, he or she must get back to their fort or risk being shot unarmed. When a player is in her fort, she cannot be invaded. However, she can be shot on from the outside--anywhere from a distance of 5 or more feet. A player may not stay in his fort for more than 10 minutes. When a player has been shot seven times, the player is out of the game. The last player standing is the winner.

  5. Step 5

Have each player go to his or her respective fort and do a role call to make sure everyone is ready. Then the captain should yell out, "Go to war!"

  6. Step 6

If anyone gete injured, pause the war and make sure that person receives treatment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never shoot your rubber band with your eye directly behind it unless with goggles or glasses. Also, never aim for the face.
