If you own a tanning salon, changing the tanning bed lamps is critical as it will maintain good conditions for your patrons.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the tanning bed manual or other information. Find out how to tell when your lamps must be changed, and what type of bulbs to use.

  2. Step 2

Order new bulbs from the company, or pick them up at a tanning-bed supply store. Get the exact type of bulbs mentioned on the tanning bed.

  3. Step 3

Unplug the tanning bed and move it into a position where you can easily get at the lamps.

  4. Step 4

Unscrew the protective covering over the lamps, and place it aside.

  5. Step 5

Firmly grasp one lamp, and screw it out of the socket gently. Set it aside.

  6. Step 6

Unwrap a new bulb and screw it into the open socket.

  7. Step 7

Repeat steps five and six until you have replaced all of the tanning bed lamps.

  8. Step 8

When all lamps have been replaced, refit the protective cover onto the tanning bed, and screw it into place.

  9. Step 9

Plug the tanning bed back in and turn it on to check that all of your bulbs have been replaced correctly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Starting at one end and working your way to the other is the easiest way to do it.
  • Don't allow patrons to tan in your salon with new bulbs unless you have warned them that you have changed the bulbs. They will probably want to adjust their tanning time.
