How to Store Lettuce

Separate lettuce leaves from head of lettuce. Place in a colander.

Place the colander of lettuce leaves under cold running water, allowing them to rinse thoroughly.

Lay lettuce leaves down on paper towels, and leave them there to dry.

Put lettuce leaves in the large closable plastic bags. Seal the bags and store them in the crisper compartment of your refrigerator.

Tips & Warnings
Do not tear lettuce leaves into pieces before putting them into the plastic bags. Once torn, the torn edges of the leaves will turn brown quickly.

I am looking for ways to keep my lettuce from going bad. I bought it the other day and today it's already turned brown. I have a question though, wouldn't separating the lettuce leaves from the head cause the leaves to turn brown just as if they were torn? Thank You! -
