Things You'll Need:
- Five dice
-
Step 1
Obtain five dice. The dice will ideally be poker dice, which have a 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace on the six sides of the dice. If these are not available you can use regular dice, substituting 1 for 9, 2 for 10, 3 for Jack, 4 for Queen, 5 for King and 6 for Ace.
-
Step 2
Understand the hand rankings. The object of the game is to make a better poker hand than the other players, so it is important to know what a good poker dice hand is. From best to worst, the poker dice hands are:Five of a Kind (Aces highest, nines lowest)Four of a Kind (Aces highest, nines lowest)Full House (three of one kind, two of another)Straight (Five sequential dice – 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace)Three of a Kind (Aces highest, nines lowest)Two Pair One PairHighest Dice (If no one has a pair or higher)
-
Step 3
Roll the dice. The first player rolls all five dice. After taking the roll, the player evaluates what combinations are available and sets aside any die he may wish to keep.
-
Step 4
Roll the die again. After setting aside the die to keep, the player rolls the other die a second time. Again, the player will decide which die to keep and which to set aside.
-
Step 5
Roll the dice a final time. The third roll of the die is the final roll. The die showing at this point results in the final poker hand for the player.
-
Step 6
The dice are passed to the next player, who repeats Steps 3 to 5. At the end of her third roll, her poker hand is noted. This continues until all players have rolled the dice and made a poker hand.
-
Step 7
Compare poker hands. The player who created the highest ranking hand during their roll of the dice wins.
