How to Give Nails Square Tips

Square tips on nails are very popular with anyone who likes the look of a French manicure. Not only are square tips fashionable, but they make your manicure last longer and they make your nails stronger. Here is how to do square tips yourself in under 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need:

• Nail clippers
• Nail file

1. Use nail cutters to cut your nail straight across. Do not round the edges with the clippers. This will make the nail weak.

2. Run the nail file over the flat tip of the nail to remove jagged edges. Make sure to only file in one direction. A back and forth motion damages the nail as well.

3. Place the nail file on the side of the nail. With one sweeping motion, run the file around the sharp edge of the nail. This will retain the square shape, but will smooth the nail so that it won't catch on fabric.

4. Repeat Step 3 on the other side of the nail.

5. Finish your manicure by repeating steps 1 through 4 so that all of your nails are square.
