How to Create a Family Budget With Google Spreadsheets

It is always important to stay on top of your family's financial health. One of the best ways to do this is by keeping an accurate family budget. Using Google Spreadsheets to keep track of your family’s income and expenses makes it easier to collaborate and share information with your spouse or children. Here is a simple way to create a family budget with Google Spreadsheets.

Instructions

1. Sign in to your Google Docs account. If you do not have an account, sign up for a free account at the website (see Resources below).

2. Once you are signed in, click the "New" tab on the top left. Navigate down to "From template..." and click on it.

3. In the search box at the top, input "Family Budget Planner" and hit "Enter."

4. In the search results, select the Family Budget Planner by clicking "Use this template."

Tips & Warnings

• The more information you are able to enter into the budget about your exact income and expenses, the more accurate your budget will be.

• Pick a day at the beginning of the month and once each week to go over your budget with your spouse. Use Google's convenient collaborative tools to make sure you are both in agreement about the data.
