Instructions

    • 1

Measure the old belt. Wrap it around the mailbox to be sure that it will go all the way around. If necessary, make an additional hole in the belt so that it will wrap snugly around the box.

    • 2

Glue the fir garland to the old belt. Only glue the part that will wrap around the top and sides of the mailbox. Any extra can hang down or be trimmed off. Use a lot of glue to make sure that the garland is secure.

    • 3

Decorate the garland with pine cones, holly berry sprigs and poinsettia flowers. You can just insert them firmly into the garland, or you can use a little glue to make sure that they are secure. Leave a small space at the top and center of the swag. Work out from that space. Doing so helps it remain fairly symmetrical.

    • 4

Tie the red bow firmly to the center of the swag. If it has tails, they will hang down on either side of the mailbox.

    • 5

Belt the swag around the box. You should belt it as tightly as you can without damaging your mailbox. It should be positioned toward the back of the box so that you do not interfere with flag movement or obscure the numbers.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add lights to the garland for a pretty display at night as well.
