The scanning feature in Photoshop 6 is valuable, as it allows you to digitally work with hard copy images. It's important to get the settings and resolution correct so you can work with the image to its full advantage.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on "File," "Import" and "Twain_32" (for Windows users) or "Twain Acquire" (for Mac OS users).

  2. Step 2

Click on "Prescan" and choose a scan mode (i.e. black and white, color, etc.) and resolution (dpi).

  3. Step 3

You can crop the image preview or choose a different scale percentage if you need to.

  4. Step 4

Click "Scan." When it is finished scanning, the image will appear in a new window in Photoshop 6.

  5. Step 5

Save the image before making any changes. Proceed to color correct, straighten or otherwise edit.

Tips & Warnings
  • To scan directly into Photoshop, the plug-in or Twain module must be set up in the "Import-Export" folder inside the Adobe Photoshop Plug-Ins folder.
  • Be sure to calculate the proper resolution before scanning.
