Things You'll Need:
- Dried beans
- Scissors
- Fabric such as felt, corduroy or flannel
- Needle
- Thread
-
Step 1
Dry the beans and keep them from moisture. They need to be kept dry to ensure protection against moisture and mildew.
-
Step 2
Decide what shape and size you want to make the bean bags. If they are for cushions or neck rests, they can be larger or smaller than regular pillows. This will determine what type and how much material you need.
-
Step 3
Make the enclosure for the bean bag with needle and thread or on a sewing machine, leaving one end open to fill.
-
Step 4
Fill the bag you’ve made with beans to comfort level. Some people like firmer cushions than others. Neck cushions probably should be more filled than a regular cushion. Door warmers or “snakes” also can be stuffed with beans, too, and should be fairly full.
-
Step 5
Have a bean bag party with family and friends so that everyone can show off their bean bag creations. Sharing types of materials used for each unique bean bag is both fun and creative.
