Coconut oil, with its natural proteins and moisturizers, can help restore vitality and shininess to hair. When you use virgin coconut oil as a conditioner to your hair, you can nourish both your scalp and hair to make your tresses healthy and beautiful. Virgin coconut oil is a white, solid oil at room temperature. When you apply the heat of your hands to the solid oil, it will quickly become smooth, and you will be able to apply it to your hair easily. Does this Spark an idea?

      Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of solid coconut oil into the palm of one hand. The amount of coconut oil you need depends upon the length of your hair. Short hair may only require 1tablespoon, while longer hair will require more oil.

      Rub your hands together to warm the coconut oil. As you apply the heat of your hands and light friction, the coconut oil will soften and become smooth enough to work with.

      Apply the coconut oil to your hair, from the scalp all the way to the tips of your hair. Cover every inch of your scalp and hair with coconut oil, massaging the oil in thoroughly.

      Continue massaging your hair and scalp for up to 15 minutes, if you desire. If you prefer after you coat your scalp and hair thoroughly, cover your hair with a plastic shower cap and allow the coconut oil to sit on your hair for up to one hour.

      Rinse your hair with warm water to remove the coconut oil and then wash your hair normally.

      Repeat the coconut oil application once or twice each week to nourish and condition your hair.

Tips & Warnings

  • Deep condition your hair by applying the coconut oil to your hair before bed, covering your head with a shower cap and then leaving the coconut oil on your hair until the next morning. Rinse and wash your hair the next morning.
