Dealing with interracial dating should be as simple as brushing your teeth. Sadly, we live in a world where tolerance isn't as prevalent as it should be. These tips should help lessen the stress of dealing with interracial dating.

From Quick Guide: Interracial Dating Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
Physical differences are irrelevant when people are like-minded.

Show those around you that physical differences between human beings have no bearing on what is contained in people's hearts and minds. Demonstrate your love and acceptance for people of all races, religions and nationalities. This is easily done by being totally inclusive of all the many different types of people you encounter in your personal life, at your workplace and in activities you attend in your free time.

  2. Step 2
Children should be raised to look into people's hearts rather than at the color of their skin.

Be open to traditions and celebrations of different races. If you are dating someone of a different race, learn to cook her ethnic foods and entertain the way she is accustomed to entertaining. In a like manner, teach her your family's favorite recipes and share traditions that have always been meaningful to you.

  3. Step 3
Embrace racial differences by learning new customs and traditions.

Introduce your significant other as well as his traditions to your own friends and relatives. Make everyone feel comfortable by starting some new routines or traditions of your own. For example, if you are of Mexican descent and your partner is Caucasian, try restaurants or activities that are neither. A fun date might include dinner at a French restaurant followed by browsing an exhibit of Indian art.

  4. Step 4
Interracial dating is a peaceful example of living in harmony.

Don't ignore each other's differences. You are different in some ways, but those differences don't mean you can't or shouldn't date or possibly get married later on. Instead embrace these differences for what they represent, the unique ways each of you was raised. Just like someone raised in Iowa grew up a little differently from someone raised in New York City, so did you grow up a little differently from your partner in your interracial relationship. Still, the constants that matter remain strong and ultimately determine the kind of human being you have grown up to be. Those constants include love, respect, a strong work ethic, tolerance and inclusion.

  5. Step 5
Interracial dating provides learning opportunities on a number of levels.

Interracial dating provides learning opportunities on a number of levels.

Reprimand those who disrespect your choice in interracial dating the way you would reprimand any rudeness or intolerance. It should be done quietly, respectfully and to the point. Never allow anyone you're dating to be treated unkindly, regardless of race, religion or nationality. Respect is a right of all human beings. Disrespecting one who is disrespectful serves only to fuel his fire and spread even more intolerance.

Tips & Warnings
  • Our world is big enough for everyone to share. When respect and tolerance enter into any relationship--be it a personal relationship or one between co-workers, family members or friends--success is the result.
