Things You'll Need:
- Old postage stamps
- Laminator
- Laminating sheets
- Scissors
- Needle or pin
- Dangly earring backings
-
Step 1
Pick two to four stamps of the same size for a pair of earrings. You only need one if you are only planning on making a one sided earring but you will need two for each earring if you want the earring to have a full stamp front and back. They look more finished this way and you don’t have to worry about putting them on the wrong way or having them turn to a back side when you wear them, if you make them with a front and back side.
-
Step 2
Open the laminating sheet, which has two sides. Place the postage stamps far enough from each other so the stamps will bond properly to the sheet when they go through the laminator and so there is a nice clear laminating frame around each stamp when you cut them out after they are laminated. For the two-sided earrings, place two stamps back side to back side, matching them up and set them on the laminating sheet so they don’t come apart. Put as many stamps or double stamps as you can, to make the best use of the laminate sheet.
-
Step 3
Carefully feed the sheet into the laminator. Don’t let the sheet come apart so the stamps move. After the stamps are sealed between the two sheets of plastic laminate, remove it and begin to cut the laminated stamps out. Make sure you leave a frame of plastic around each stamp or double stamp so the postage stamp stays sealed in the plastic.
-
Step 4
Poke a small hole at the top of the stamp on the plastic. Attach the earring backing and make sure it is closed properly so the earring won’t fall off of the backing while they are being worn.
-
Step 5
You can make seasonal earrings using postage stamps for each season, like Christmas or Valentine’s Day. Make some international ones with stamps from other countries.
