Things You'll Need:
- Plan a dinner at a restaurant
- Bring a friend or significant other
- Money to pay for the dinner
-
Step 1
Do not drink alcohol throughout the meal. If you would like to have a drink, order one cocktail from the bar and drink it while you are waiting for your table.
-
Step 2
Split an appetizer with your dining partner rather than ordering a salad for each of you. Or, when salad is included with your dinner, skip the appetizer.
-
Step 3
Order water with a lemon to drink with your dinner instead of a soda or alcoholic beverage.
-
Step 4
If the restaurant serves large portions of food, consider splitting an entree with your dining partner. This is particularly logical with heavy meals that one person likely could not finish on their own.
-
Step 5
Instead of ordering a separate dessert for each person at the table, order one rich dessert for the table to share.
-
Step 6
Order regular coffee instead of espresso based drinks if you would like coffee after dinner.

on 2/5/2009 Great article! I always go for one of the less expensive menu options. In a fast food restaurant, I often order off of the value menu.
