Things You'll Need:
- Determination
- Diligence
-
Step 1
Work on your quickness. This means work on your take off and catch speed up and down the court. Also Practice getting rebounds off the rim over and over. This will improve your reaction and jump timing.
-
Step 2
Learn to look for the signs of when a player is going to shoot. With the right timing you'll be able to time the block of the shot.
-
Step 3
Jump straight up in the air with your hand out for the ball. Make sure you don't lose your balance in the air because if the player fakes the shot, you may foul him/her.
-
Step 4
Work on your timing! This is the most important step. Timing is everything when it comes to blocking a shot. Arrive to early and you may catch a foul, arrive to late and you'll give up points!

on 10/28/2008 Typo in Step 4: "Arrive to early and you may catch a foul, arrive to late and you'll give up points!"
Both of the _to's_ should be changed to "too".
