Here are some tips on cleaning out your cleaning closet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start from the bottom up by putting either a serving tray or jelly roll pan on the floor under your mops and brooms to catch drips and dirt. Store tall items like electric brooms, mops and vacuums in the corner of your closet with stools and step ladders.

  2. Step 2

Install hooks on the inside of the closet door for large rags, dust pans and feather dusters. Mount a broom bracket on the back wall of the closet to hand your mops and brooms with the tray below it on the floor.

  3. Step 3

Put cleaning products in caddies arranged by room. One for bathrooms, one for living areas, one for the kitchen, etc. and store them on an easy to reach shelf. Keep used rags and sponges in an open container on a shelf so they can air dry.

  4. Step 4

Keep a cleaning bucket on a shelf with brushes and gloves in it for easy access to quick clean ups. Store cleaning products that you don't use on a regular basis on a higher shelf. Items like silver, crystal and wood polishes and waxes. You can also keep extra rolls of paper towels with these polishes.
