Exfoliating and moisturizing are two of the most important steps in your body skincare regime. Exfoliation helps your body rid itself of dead skin, which in turn, helps your moisturizer do its job. Adding these two steps three times a week to your regular beauty care routine will give you healthier glowing skin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Loofah
  • Sisal Mitt
  • Body Scrub
  • Moisturizer or Lotion
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Olive Oil
  • Sunscreen
  1. Step 1

Try dry exfoliation. If you've ever exfoliated, you already know about scrubs that you can use in the shower. But, dry exfoliating is done before the shower on dry skin. Sisal products are ideal for dry exfoliation and sisal mitts, scrubbers or bath brushes are sold at most bath and beauty stores.

  2. Step 2

Start with your feet and gently buff up your legs, working your way up your body. After you dry exfoliate, shower as usual.

  3. Step 3

Buff your body with a shower scrub three times a week. You can use pre-made body scrubs in a variety of scents, or you can make a simple exfoliating scrub at home with ¼ cup sugar or salt and ¼ cup olive oil. Avoid using the scrub on the face as it will be too harsh for the delicate skin there.

  4. Step 4

Use a loofah or exfoliating mitt in the shower between regular scrub treatments for a gentle daily exfoliation. You can use your regular body wash.

  5. Step 5

Rinse your body scrub off in the shower and pat yourself dry. Don't rub or over-dry your body with a towel.

  6. Step 6

Apply a moisturizer while your skin is still damp and let it absorb naturally. If your feet are extra dry, apply petroleum jelly all over your feet and cover them with socks before bedtime.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always apply sunscreen after a morning exfoliation and moisturizer. Unless it has built-in SPF protection, your moisturizer won't help protect your skin against damaging sun rays.
  • Never over-exfoliate or rub your skin too hard. This can irritate your skin.
