Food prices are on the rise, and an easy way to cut down grocery bills is to buy block cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese. A sixteen-ounce block of cheese cost roughly as much as an eight-ounce bag of shredded cheese. Grating your own cheese is an easy way to save money.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Freeze cheese for thirty minutes before grating. The cheese will become more solid and less likely to crumble as you grate.

  2. Step 2

Spray your cheese grater with non-stick cooking spray. This will help when you clean the grater.

  3. Step 3

Place your grater over the container that you will store your cheese in.

  4. Step 4

Gently run cheese down grater. Repeat until you have the desired amount of cheese.

Tips & Warnings
  • Graters are sharp; watch out for your fingers and hands.
  • Always wash hands before working with food.
