Wire wrapped loops are a great option when beads are too heavy for regular eye pins. Even though it takes some practice to perfect this skill, making wire wrapped loops is an essential skill for every beader and jewelry maker. It is worth the effort to learn to do it correctly in order to give your jewelry a professional finish.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Jewelry wire of your choice
  • Flat-nose pliers
  • Round-nose pliers
  • Wire cutters
  1. Step 1

Place the flat-nose pliers two inches away from the end of the wire. Make the wire tail longer if needed to make more loops around the wire.

  2. Step 2

Using the flat-nose pliers, bend the wire to 45 degrees.

  3. Step 3

Place the round-nose pliers where the wire turns and, using your fingers or the flat-nose pliers, bring the wire end around the round-nose pliers to make the loop.

  4. Step 4

Wrap up the wire end around the longer part of the wire to create the loops. Usually the wire is coiled two or three times, but it is up to you and your design.

  5. Step 5

Cut any overlapping wire with the wire cutters and press the cut end with flat-nose pliers so the wire lays flush against the wire stem.
