Every student wants to be successful. Even when classes are difficult, a few changes can help you create more success for yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Note cards
  • Pen/pencil
  • Paper
  1. Step 1
    Be successful

    Be successful

Plan to be successful. The most important part of any "success" equation is to be a part of it. Be in class and be there a few minutes early with all the supplies you need to be successful. Don't stop there though. Be present mentally for the entire period. Let your thoughts be on the subject as you pay attention to the instructor and your classmates.

  2. Step 2
    Take notes

    Take notes

Take solid notes. Note-taking helps you focus on the subject and helps keep your mind from wandering. It also makes it easier to remember the covered material when you study.

  3. Step 3
    Good study habits

    Good study habits

Study throughout the section;, don't wait to study until the night before the test. Review your notes every night. Always start with the oldest ones and continue until you have reviewed the most current notes. You will be more successful on your test if you follow this step. Make connections between the notes to create better memories.

  4. Step 4
    Good work habits

    Good work habits

Create studying techniques that match your style. Mapping, mnemonic devices, flash cards and file cards on a binder ring can all be used to help you study. After you make them, use them!

  5. Step 5
    Be careful

    Be careful

Check over your completed work critically. The greatest amount of errors in your work is caused by careless mistakes, not a lack of knowledge. If you truly want to be successful, you will care enough to review your work.

  6. Step 6
    Work hard

    Work hard

Think like a winner. Successful people do not wonder how little they can do and still succeed. They push the bar and often do more than that which is required of them. Become a hard worker and your grades will benefit. Care enough about your own success to do quality work.

  7. Step 7
    Sleep well

    Sleep well

Eat well, get plenty of sleep and try to stay out of stressful situations.

All of these steps, when put together, will work to your benefit. You will become a success as a student and that is something that can make you feel good about yourself!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be an "apple polisher" but do treat your teacher with respect.

on 12/2/2009 Thanks, nice article!
Tomorrow in school, I'll try to do these things, and every other day of course, I think I'm slacking so I need to boost up.
Thanks again

on 1/9/2009 Very good article :)
you just forgot two things: inspiration and encouragement.
Inspiration helps us think harder, and work harder, because of desiring something you wish to do in the future.
Encouragement is needed from parents, teachers, and pretty much anyone to feel good about oneself and become even more successful. :D
