Tips and tricks to help prevent split ends for all hair types and styles.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • wide tooth comb
  • styling products of your choice
  1. Step 1

WET HAIR - Always let your towel soak up as much moisture as possible from your hair, the wetter your hair the easier it will stretch then break off and split at the end! Never, ever use a brush on wet hair, a wide toothed comb or detangler type comb is best, and never start combing at the scalp! Start at the hair ends working up to the scalp, generally 1 inch "steps" up to your scalp will be fine!

  2. Step 2

CONDITIONING YOUR HAIR - Whether you prefer to rinse thoroughly or spray and leave in, only apply your conditioner to the ends of your hair, not at the scalp. Conditioners applied on the scalp will give you the "greasy, flat, bad" and "Oh, soooo not in style today" look, probably not the style you had in mind!

  3. Step 3

MOUSSES, GELS & THE REST - Remember, these products all contain alcohol or some other type of drying agent which is also a negative for the ends of your locks. As your applying your favorite, remember to put it where it will "support" the style you're trying to create.

  4. Step 4

THE HEAT & THE HAIR SPRAY - Whether its a blow dryer or flat iron, your hair should be almost dry before applying the heat! Too much water in your locks only requires more time behind the dryer, in turn causing more dryness and breakage (split ends!). Finish drying with the cool or ion setting on your blow dryer to achieve shine and set the style.
ONLY spray the hair that needs it.Want lift in your bangs? Spray them at their base, not at the ends which will actually cause them to go limp and lifeless!

Tips & Warnings
  • REMEMBER - LESS IS MORE, from conditioning to styling to spraying, moderation is best!
