How to make a wheelchair ramp

Building a wheelchair ramp can be challeging but here goes.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A 2x8 at least 36" long.
  • 2 2x6 length depending on doorway or porch.
  • 2 2x4 length depending on doorway or porch.
  • 12 deck boards,treated. 36" long.
  • A box of 2 1/2" wood screws.
  1. Step 1

    Your 2x8 will screw into front or back door.

  2. Step 2

    Your 2x6's you will cut at a 45 degree angle will screw into the 2x8.

  3. Step 3

    Your 2x4's cut at a 45 will screw 2" down on the inside of the 2x8.

  4. Step 4

    and your 36" deckwood will go across depending on how many you'll need this will be your walkway at least a 1" and half apart. Make sure all screws are counter sinch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you live in a apartment with a concrete foundation, it will be 2" off your front porch or your walkway, just cut 1 2x8, 10ft long,cut it at a 45, all the way down the center, they should both be the same size.
  • Always make sure the ramp is stable and anchored in the ground, measure 32" across and get a piece of decking plywood cut the bottom at a 45 and lay on top, drill your holes and put screws in.
