Step 1
The first thing you will want to do at all times whenever you may have a cold sore (herpes simplex) or a fever blister, is to keep it clean. If it does not bother you too much and does not have any yellow puss in it's center it is best to just leave it be. However, if you do see yellow puss forming in it's center, this would be the best time to seek medical attention to avoid infections.
-
Step 2
When you have a cold sore (herpes simplex) or a fever blister, it is wise to replace your toothbrush. Sterilizing it does absolutely nothing to defeat the virus, you will still have the virus embedded in the toothbrush. After each usage it is wise to just throw away your toothbrush, this may sound costly however, you can get toothbrushes at any dollar store in your local area.
Once your cold sore (herpes simplex) or fever blister finally heals, you will want to go out and purchase a new toothbrush that you would typically use. -
Step 3
Covering the cold sore (herpes simplex) or fever blister with petroleum jelly helps protect your cold sore. Be sure to use a clean Q-tip for each application, and never double did with the same Q-tip.
-
Step 4
If you are a person who suffers from cold sores (herpes simplex) multiple times a year, it would be ideal to add Amino Acid Lysine into your diet. Taking 2,000 - 3,000 Amino Acid Lysine a day can significantly help with the healing process of the cold sores as well as dramatically preventing them. Ideal foods that contain the Amino Acid Lysine would be, dairy products, potatoes and brewer's yeast.
