Step 1
Get a single plain white 3”x 5” card. Fold the card neatly in half so it looks like a folded business card. Make a crisp fold line. Score it with your finger nails or the back of the scissors if you need to in order to make the fold neat and clean. The fold will be the top of the place card. The open ends will fan out to create a base for the card to stand on at each place setting.
-
Step 2
Push you thumb or forefinger into the ink pad and do a couple test prints on the test sheet of paper to make sure you have the right pressure and not too much or too little ink on your fingers. Make a solid fingerprint image on the left front side of the folded card. Leave enough room to the right of the turkey to write a person’s name.
-
Step 3
Cut small tear drop shaped pieces of autumn colored paper. These will be the tail feathers on the back of the turkey. Make them long enough so once in place part of each feather will stick up over the top edge of the standing folded card. That touch gives the turkey place card a little more dimensional appeal. Then glue the pieces in place along the back of the thumb print so the turkey is fanning his feathers behind him. Cut a smaller tear drop piece to put below the tail feathers to make the turkey’s head and glue it in place. Cut out a contrasting color wattle and glue it under the turkey’s chin.

Step 4
Use the fine tipped black marker and draw simple poultry stick feet and legs and eyes on the face. Then either with a pen, marker or a calligraphy pen, write one of the guest’s names on the front of the card. Make one for each person at the Thanksgiving table. Then set them either on the middle of each plate with the name facing forward or at the top of each place setting when you set the Thanksgiving table. It is a nice little personal touch.
