How to Win Online Texas Hold 'em Tournaments
Texas Hold‘em poker is a game of contradictions. Patience and consistency intermingle with quick play and strategy change. Sitting at a table of poker players is easier in some aspects, as a player can get clues from watching other players reactions to their hands. However, playing Texas Hold ‘em online requires statistical knowledge to understand the odds of winning the hand. By combining luck with patience and strategy, it is easy to win an online poker game.

Play tight at the beginning of the tournament. Online players often go ’all in’ early in a tournament to gain the early chip lead. Remember it doesn’t matter who has the early chip lead, the idea is to get to the final table of players. Online poker tournaments only pay winnings to players at the final table.

Place intermediate bets throughout the middle of the tournament. Mix up bet play by staying consistent with bet amounts, then changing to larger or smaller bets. This ensures that no one gets accustomed to your betting style and reads your hand easier.

Bet more loosely as the players in the Texas Hold ‘em tournament start to dwindle. Short stacked players start to get desperate and try to buy pots as the blinds get bigger. Being more aggressive will take out the short stacked players and add to your chip count.

Concentrate on betting high with high percentage hands such as high pocket pairs or flush draws. Calculate the odds of each hand possible of beating your poker hand. A calculator is not necessary, keep in mind that the odds are always extremely low for ’perfect hands’ such as a straight flush or four of a kind. Having a high flush or straight is just as good in most cases.

Tips & Warnings
Watching other players betting habits is not as crucial in online Texas Hold ‘em tournaments. Remember, the same person may not be playing the entire tournament. It is better to concentrate on learning the odds of a good hand and playing consistently.
Don’t call an early ’all in’ bet even if you have pocket aces. All it takes is a pair of pocket deuces to get the trip and force you out of the tournament early.
