Things You'll Need:
- Piece of regular paper
- Pencil
- Stiff thin cardboard about 3 inches by 3 inches
- Scissors
- Black acrylic paint or a permanent black marker
- Nubby white or off-white yarn
- ¼-inch to 3/8-inch metal bell
- Ringer with an attaching hook to thread the ribbon through
- 1/8-inch wide red ribbon 10 to 12 inches long
- 1/8-inch wide green ribbon 10 inches to 12 inches long

Step 1
Draw a simple sheep pattern on the piece of paper. Cut it out to use for tracing the same design on the pieces of cardboard for the sheep. It should be about 2 inches tall and 2 ½ inches long. Trace the sheep on the cardboard then cut it out. The best cardboard is about the thickness of the backing on a pad of lined yellow paper.

Step 2
Paint or use a marker to color the head and leg portions of the sheep black. You don’t need to do the body. It will be covered with the nubbly yarn. Make sure it is totally dry before you continue.

Step 3
Begin wrapping the yarn around the head of the sheep, leaving a black face portion exposed. Continue wrapping the whole body and legs. Leave the black feet exposed too. Wrap it until no cardboard shows through and the sheep has a soft body. Then stick the loose ends under the other yarn so the ends are anchored and you can’t see them.

Step 4
Put the two pieces of ribbon together so the ends match. Thread ribbon through the bell hook so it will sit in the middle of the ribbon. Then tie it in place around the sheep’s neck so that the bell sits under its chin. Tie a secure bow on the back of the neck.
