No barbecue is complete without grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and they taste great as a charcoal-grilled ''burger'' on a bun, topped with ketchup, onions and relish. The aroma from the grill and the taste of the first bite makes it almost impossible to eat only one.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hamburgers
  • Hamburger rolls
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Napkins
  • Onions
  • Relish
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes

Buy already shaped hamburgers from the meat department, frozen from the store freezer or make your own patties using freshly ground meat from the butcher.

  2. Step 2

Make the patties by adding 1 raw egg, dash of seasonings, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 cup bread crumbs and about 1 to 2 tablespoons of water (depending on how much chopped meat you have).

  3. Step 3

Form the patties (packing lightly) and place them on a plate or platter. Cover with a sheet of waxed paper and put them into the refrigerator to keep cold. When it's time to grill, remove and place the raw burgers on the hot grill.

Smell the aroma of the grilled burger, as the the flames hit the burger and it starts to cook. Use the spatula and turn once. Grill until rare, medium or well done, according to taste.

  5. Step 5

Use the spatula and carefully remove the burger from the grill. Place into a lightly grilled bun topped with a slice of onion, tomato, ketchup and relish with a side of fries.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that you do not ''pack'' the meat when you make the hamburgers. Shape them loosely.
  • Add relish, ketchup, mustard and other condiments depending on your taste when serving.
  • Lettuce and tomatoes also make a great topping.
  • Keep watching the patties as they grill, making sure they do not burn.
  • Wear protective gloves while grilling.
